Saving Lives Together
Mission: To Improve Animal Welfare and Reduce Cat Overpopulation
Rescue * Foster * Adopt
Unfortunately it costs lots of money to provide vet care, food, vaccinations, flea meds, dewormer, and the list goes on. If anyone wants to make a donation, it is tax deductible as we are a 501c organization. Together we can make real change.
Cat's Best Friend is a nonprofit organization providing cat placement, fostering, and medical care services for rescued kittens and cats. We believe in taking action with urgency and care to serve those who need us most. Please join us by supporting our efforts to make a measurable difference in the lives of others.
We need your help!

"This organization is truly dedicated to the welfare of these furbabies. Aside from providing food and medical care, they spend a lot of effort helping traumatized cats get care for their mental well-being. Very responsible community citizens."
Joyce McKulka
Founder of Cat's Best Friend
I have always rescued when I could. In February of 2021, I agreed to help a lady whose love for her cats had resulted in a hoarding situation. She loved every cat in her home. Every cat had a name and a story, but like so many others, her love for cats and the limited knowledge and resources had snowballed into hoarding. She was facing eviction and the only advice or help she received from her local Animal Control office was to either euthanize them or open the door and let them out.
I took 21 cats that Saturday night and it has been a journey ever since. I have met some amazing people from my community during this process who helped me care for, feed, and socialize with these babies. What I learned is there is a tremendous need for education, affordable medical care, and TNR services.
Over the past years, this newfound need has grown into a group of volunteers, fosters, TNR specialists and loving adopters who have saved hundreds of cats and kittens. We constantly get calls for help with cats slated for euthanasia from shelters, local homeowners with an uncontrollable and unwanted stray cat population, as well as families with outside cat colonies that have reproduced to a size that they cannot afford to maintain.
This passion brings much joy to the Cat’s Best Friend family of volunteers, but with that joy comes heartbreak for the ones we can’t save. While we hope one day we will not be needed, we appreciate the honor of saving as many cats and kittens as we can until stricter and better enforced laws regarding spay/neuter are put into place.
Joyce has been operating Cat's Best Friend while working full time to fund these efforts, and she has given over the majority of her home to house the rescues and supplies. She humbly feels that the success of her program is due to the caring volunteers that tirelessly help her.
"My volunteers are the real heroes".
